The Egyptian Lover is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Kraftwerk, Prince, Zapp, Roger Troutman and Afrika Bambaataa. Those roots explain a lot about how The Egyptian Lover arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Cybotron, Mantronix, Drexciya, Afrika Bambaataa and Ultramagnetic MC's, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Ice-T, DJ QBert, Juan Atkins, Arabian Prince and Moodymann, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 22 connections around The Egyptian Lover, reaching back through Kraftwerk and forward to Ice-T. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
