They run in the same orbit as Boogie Down Productions, Mantronix, Schoolly D, Roxanne Shanté and Eric B. & Rakim, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into DJ Cassidy, Chali 2na, Mickey Factz, DJ Honda and Maximum Joy, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 82 connections around Afrika Bambaataa, reaching back through UB40 and forward to DJ Cassidy. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
