The Firm is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Dawn Robinson, Free, Whodini and Physical Graffiti. Those roots explain a lot about how The Firm arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Sammy Hagar, Triumph, Billy Squier, Night Ranger and Robert Plant, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Sam Brown and Bad Company, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 34 connections around The Firm, reaching back through Dawn Robinson and forward to Sam Brown.
