◇ image via WikipediaThe Pussycat Dolls
The Pussycat Dolls is a Contemporary R&B and Dance-pop act. Their catalogue also touches Pop. Their sound grew out of Christina Aguilera, Tom Jones, Henry Mancini, Keely Smith and Pink. Those roots explain a lot about how The Pussycat Dolls arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Lopez, Ashley Tisdale, Christina Aguilera and Ciara, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Girlicious, G.R.L., Xiu Xiu, Simone Battle and So Close to What, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 67 connections around The Pussycat Dolls, reaching back through Christina Aguilera and forward to Girlicious.
