The Seeds is a Psychedelic rock act. Their sound grew out of Iggy Pop, Animal Collective, Big Brother and the Holding Company, The Music Machine and Strawberry Alarm Clock. Those roots explain a lot about how The Seeds arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as The Sonics, Kaleidoscope, Paul Revere & The Raiders, The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band and The Troggs, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Stooges, Smash Mouth, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Yo La Tengo and Garbage, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 35 connections around The Seeds, reaching back through Iggy Pop and forward to The Stooges.
