◇ image via WikipediaThe Bangles
The Bangles is a Alternative rock and Rap act. Their sound grew out of Emitt Rhodes, Fanny, Mr. Mister, Prince and Cyndi Lauper. Those roots explain a lot about how The Bangles arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Belinda Carlisle, T'Pau, Laura Branigan, Eurythmics and Huey Lewis & The News, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Griff, Nature, Relient K, Hoodoo Gurus and Candice King, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 56 connections around The Bangles, reaching back through Emitt Rhodes and forward to Griff.
