Animal Collective

Electronic
Electronic

Animal Collective is a Electronic act. Their sound grew out of Ariel Pink, This Is the Kit, Washington Phillips, Lee "Scratch" Perry and Hildur Guðnadóttir. Those roots explain a lot about how Animal Collective arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks, Atlas Sound, Deerhunter, Grizzly Bear and Jim O'Rourke, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Fleet Foxes, Nicolas Jaar, Hiatus Kaiyote, Miike Snow and The Seeds, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 46 connections around Animal Collective, reaching back through Ariel Pink and forward to Fleet Foxes. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
