Tonetta
Tonetta is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of John Lennon, The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. Those roots explain a lot about how Tonetta arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as R. Stevie Moore, Gary Wilson, Ariel Pink, The Shaggs and Daniel Johnston, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Freddie Dredd, Los Retros and The Growlers, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 21 connections around Tonetta, reaching back through John Lennon and forward to Freddie Dredd. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
