Wavves is a Punk rock act. Their sound grew out of Beach Fossils and Twin Peaks. Those roots explain a lot about how Wavves arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Surfer Blood, Jay Reatard, Ty Segall, METZ and Twin Peaks, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Blink-182, Violent Soho, Dentist, Dune Rats and Paws, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 32 connections around Wavves, reaching back through Beach Fossils and forward to Blink-182.
