Wookie

UK garage
UK garage

Wookie is a UK garage act. Their sound grew out of Wayne Marshall, Soul II Soul and DJ Hype. Those roots explain a lot about how Wookie arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as So Solid Crew, Todd Edwards, SL2, Kristine Blond and Antonio, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Eliza, Eliza Doolittle, Dynamite MC, Destiny's Child and Public Enemy, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 27 connections around Wookie, reaching back through Wayne Marshall and forward to Eliza. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
