American Hi-Fi is an American rock band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1998. The band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Stacy Jones, lead guitarist Jamie Arentzen, bassist and backing vocalist Drew Parsons, and drummer Brian Nolan. Prior to the group's formation, Jones was well known for being a drummer in the successful alternative rock bands Veruca Salt and Letters to Cleo. American Hi-Fi has a close relationship with Miley Cyrus, whose band shares two members with American Hi-Fi. The group has a mixed musical style that includes influences from pop-punk, alternative rock, and power pop. Their sound has been categorized as scene music by Alternative Press, which described their sound as "upbeat and hopeful".

Hot Action Cop is an American rock band from Nashville, Tennessee. They are known for their hit single "Fever for the Flava". Long Island, New York-native Rob Werthner formed the band in 2001 with bassist Luis Espaillat, drummer Kory Knipp, and guitarist Tim Flaherty, and added keyboardist Daniel Feese in 2002 prior to the tour to support their self-titled debut album. Knipp left in December 2003 but remained friends with the band, subbing in on drums when needed, and rejoined in 2011. Espaillat left in 2006 to pursue other musical ventures. Bass guitarist Juan Chavolla joined in 2008, and after playing for several years without a keyboardist, multi-instrumentalist Brian Smith, a long-time friend of Werthner's, joined in 2012.

Unwritten Law is an American punk rock band formed in 1990 in Poway, California by drummer Wade Youman. The band has undergone multiple line-up changes, with Youman the sole remaining original member – however, he has left the group twice in its three-decade history. They are best known for their singles "Seein' Red" and "Save Me ," both of which peaked in the top 5 in the US Modern Rock charts and the former topping it. The band have also toured extensively both nationally and internationally, most notably as part of the Warped Tour. Liquido was a German rock band formed in Sinsheim, Germany in 1996 by four friends: Wolle Maier, Wolfgang Schrödl, Stefan Schulte-Holthaus (bass) and Tim Eiermann. The vast majority of their songs are sung in English. Their debut single “Narcotic”, recorded in 1997, was a hit in many European countries in 1998. This song was later remixed and became a German, Austrian and Dutch hit for YouNotUs in 2019.

Grinspoon are an Australian rock band from Lismore, New South Wales, who formed in 1995 by Pat Davern on guitar, Joe Hansen on bass guitar, Kristian Hopes on drums and Phil Jamieson on vocals and guitar. Also in that year, Grinspoon won the national youth radio, Triple J–sponsored Unearthed competition for Lismore, with their post-grunge song "Sickfest". The band's name references Lester Grinspoon, an associate professor emeritus of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, who supported marijuana for medical use.
