Hiatus Kaiyote is an Australian jazz/funk/R&B/soul band formed in Melbourne in 2011, made up of singer/guitarist Nai Palm, bassist Paul Bender, keyboardist Simon Mavin, and drummer Perrin Moss. Their albums include Tawk Tomahawk (2012), Choose Your Weapon (2015), Mood Valiant (2021), and Love Heart Cheat Code (2024).

Winston Rodney OD, better known by the stage name Burning Spear, is a Jamaican roots reggae singer-songwriter, vocalist, and musician. Burning Spear is a Rastafarian and one of the most influential and long-standing roots artists to emerge from the 1970s.

Racionais MC's is a Brazilian hip hop group based in São Paulo. The original lineup formed in 1988 consisted of Mano Brown, Ice Blue, Edi Rock, and DJ KL Jay. Each member hails from the ring of favelas around São Paulo. Their lyrics combine themes of social justice with gangster imagery, a far cry from the idyllic breeziness typically associated with Brazilian rap music, Racionais MC's is often considered the most important Brazilian rap group. Their name recognizes Tim Maia's monumental double album Racional vols. 1 and 2.

Gang of Youths are an Australian alternative rock band from Sydney, New South Wales, which formed in 2012. The band was founded by chief songwriter and lead vocalist David Le'aupepe; he has been joined by Jung Kim on guitar and keyboards since the band's inception, as well as Donnie Borzestowski on drums since 2014 and Tom Hobden on violin, rhythm guitar and keyboards since 2020. The band's debut studio album The Positions (2015) received multiple ARIA Award nominations and peaked at number five on the Australian albums chart. It provided the single "Magnolia", which has been described as their breakthrough hit and was certified platinum in 2018.

Lettuce is a North American funk band originating from Boston, Massachusetts in 1992. Its members are guitarist Adam "Shmeeans" Smirnoff, Nigel Hall, Adam Deitch (drums/percussion), Erick "Maverick" Coomes (bass), Ryan Zoidis (saxophone) and Eric "Benny" Bloom (trumpet).

Idris Muhammad was an American jazz drummer and bandleader. He had an extensive career performing jazz, funk, R&B, and soul music and recorded with musicians such as Ahmad Jamal, Lou Donaldson, Pharoah Sanders, Bob James, and Tete Montoliu.

Fishbone is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 1979, the band plays a fusion of ska, punk, funk, metal, reggae, and soul. AllMusic has described the group as "one of the most distinctive and eclectic alternative rock bands of the late 1980s. With their hyperactive, self-conscious diversity, goofy sense of humor, and sharp social commentary, the group gained a sizable cult following".

Patrick Denard Douthit, better known as 9th Wonder, is an American record producer, record executive, educator, and DJ who is the CEO of Jamla Records, distributed and marketed by Roc Nation, and Empire Distribution. As of Fall 2022, Douthit is Professor of the Practice in Residence in the Program in African American Studies at Wake Forest University. He also continues to teach courses at Duke University alongside his longtime collaborator, Professor Mark Anthony Neal.

Bran Van 3000 is a Canadian alternative rock and hip hop collective from Montreal, Quebec. Founded by James Di Salvio and E.P. Bergen, they collaborated on a number of songs with Stéphane Moraille, Sara Johnston, Steve "Liquid" Hawley, Jayne Hill, Jean Leloup, Kim Bingham, Pierre-Luc Cerat and many other musicians.

Chicano Batman was an American psychedelic rock band based in Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2008, the band was composed of Eduardo Arenas, Carlos Arévalo, and Bardo Martinez. Currently, the band's drummer, Gabriel Villa, has not been active in the group since their last studio album, Invisible People. The group's sound draws from a mix of genres ranging from psychedelic soul, funk, indie/alternative, prog, and latin rock.

Gene Chandler is an American singer, songwriter, music producer, and record-label executive. Chandler is nicknamed "the Duke of Earl" or, simply, "the Duke." He is best known for his most successful songs, "Duke of Earl" and "Groovy Situation", and his association with the Dukays, the Impressions, and Curtis Mayfield.

William C. Gathright, known professionally as Willie Wright, was an American soul singer and songwriter, best known for his "rediscovered" 1977 album, Telling the Truth.

Galliano are a London-based acid jazz group that were originally active between 1988 and 1997. Galliano was the first to record on Eddie Piller and Gilles Peterson's Acid Jazz record label, then the first signing to Peterson's newly formed Talkin' Loud label. Original member Robert Gallagher was joined by Constantine Weir (vocals), and Crispin Robinson (percussion) that would perform Last Poets-influenced spoken-word pieces. Michael Snaith joined as the trio became a band in order to tour their first album on Talkin' Loud, In Pursuit of the 13th Note. The album featured Roy Ayers, and was awarded an Edison Populair writing award in 1992.
