9th Wonder is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Teddy Pendergrass, Braille, De La Soul, September and Mandrill. Those roots explain a lot about how 9th Wonder arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Little Brother, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Knxwledge and Slum Village, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Elzhi, araabMUZIK, Lunice, Nipsey Hussle and Little Brother, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 64 connections around 9th Wonder, reaching back through Teddy Pendergrass and forward to Elzhi. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
