Alec Empire

Ambient
AmbientTechno

Alec Empire is a Ambient and Techno act. Their sound grew out of El-P, Prince Paul, Charlie Clouser, IAMX and Hanin Elias. Those roots explain a lot about how Alec Empire arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Venetian Snares, Bogdan Raczynski, The Mad Capsule Markets, Machine Girl and Throbbing Gristle, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Mad Capsule Markets, Mogwai, Nicolette, Cibo Matto and The Big Pink, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 31 connections around Alec Empire, reaching back through El-P and forward to The Mad Capsule Markets. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
