Bat for Lashes

Dream pop
Dream pop

Bat for Lashes is a Dream pop act. Their sound grew out of Nico, Annie Lennox, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple and Aqualung. Those roots explain a lot about how Bat for Lashes arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Cat Power, Patrick Wolf, St. Vincent, Sharon Van Etten and Beth Orton, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Klaxons, Radiohead, The Cure, Coldplay and Beck, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 48 connections around Bat for Lashes, reaching back through Nico and forward to Klaxons. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
