PJ Harvey is a Rap and Rock act. Their sound grew out of New Skin for the Old Ceremony, Surfer Rosa, Sparklehorse, Hot Chocolate and John Parish. They run in the same orbit as Liz Phair, St. Vincent, Sinéad O'Connor, Joni Mitchell and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Chaos Chaos, Karen O, Clara Luciani, AlunaGeorge and Fever Ray, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 90 connections around PJ Harvey, reaching back through New Skin for the Old Ceremony and forward to Chaos Chaos.
