Delilah is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Portishead, Ella Fitzgerald, Nine Inch Nails, Chaka Khan and Roy Ayers. Those roots explain a lot about how Delilah arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Laura Mvula, Emeli Sandé, Joy Crookes, Rebecca Ferguson and Rosie Lowe, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Chase & Status, Plan B, Wretch 32, Maverick Sabre and Joe Goddard, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 45 connections around Delilah, reaching back through Portishead and forward to Chase & Status. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
