Nine Inch Nails

Ambient
AmbientDark ambientIndustrial

Nine Inch Nails is a Ambient and Dark ambient act. Their catalogue also touches Industrial and Rap. Their sound grew out of The Clash, Skinny Puppy, Chrome, The Pop Group and Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress. Those roots explain a lot about how Nine Inch Nails arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Filter, Ministry, Machines of Loving Grace and Black Light Burns, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into My Cosmos Is Mine, Lostprophets, femtanyl, 30 Seconds to Mars and Evanescence, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 172 connections around Nine Inch Nails, reaching back through The Clash and forward to My Cosmos Is Mine. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
