DNCE is a Alternative rock act. Their sound grew out of Sekai no Owari, Hall & Oates, Prince, Bee Gees and Led Zeppelin. Those roots explain a lot about how DNCE arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Jonas Brothers, Joe Jonas, MKTO, Maroon 5 and Charlie Puth, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Jonas Brothers, Charli XCX, Kygo, Selena Gomez and Nicki Minaj, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 51 connections around DNCE, reaching back through Sekai no Owari and forward to Jonas Brothers.
