◇ image via WikipediaOneRepublic
OneRepublic is a Alternative rock and Rap act. Their sound grew out of The Rocket Summer, Jared Evan, Bruno Mars, Fiona Apple and Peter Gabriel. Those roots explain a lot about how OneRepublic arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as The Script, American Authors, Maroon 5, Coldplay and BANNERS, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Leona Lewis, Pink, Bon Jovi, Maroon 5 and Sara Bareilles, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 67 connections around OneRepublic, reaching back through The Rocket Summer and forward to Leona Lewis.
