Gehenna is a Black metal act. Their sound grew out of Darkthrone, Kristoffer Rygg and Originators of the Northern Darkness – A Tribute to Mayhem. Those roots explain a lot about how Gehenna arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Windir, Carpathian Forest, Gorgoroth, Ragnarok and Emperor, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Gorgoroth, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 25 connections around Gehenna, reaching back through Darkthrone and forward to Gorgoroth. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
