◇ image via WikipediaDarkthrone
Darkthrone is a Black metal act. Their sound grew out of Repulsion, Master's Hammer, Bulldozer, Worship Him and In Memory of Quorthon. Those roots explain a lot about how Darkthrone arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Immortal, Burzum, Mayhem, Bathory and Gorgoroth, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Nachtmystium, Acid Bath, Superjoint Ritual, Kordhell and The Black Dahlia Murder, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 100 connections around Darkthrone, reaching back through Repulsion and forward to Nachtmystium. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
