◇ image via WikipediaImmortal
Immortal is a Black metal and Death metal act. Their sound grew out of Euronymous, Rotting Christ, Sarcófago, Primordial and De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. Those roots explain a lot about how Immortal arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Darkthrone, Satyricon, Gorgoroth, Emperor and Marduk, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Satanic Warmaster, The Dawn of the Black Hearts, Necrophagia, David Kinkade and Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 59 connections around Immortal, reaching back through Euronymous and forward to Satanic Warmaster.
