Hardrock is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Led Zeppelin, The Kinks, The Who, The Yardbirds and The Rolling Stones. Those roots explain a lot about how Hardrock arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Destroy Lonely, SahBabii, skaiwater, Nine Vicious and OsamaSon, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Poison, Guns N' Roses, Rainbow, Whitesnake and Bad Company, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 44 connections around Hardrock, reaching back through Led Zeppelin and forward to Poison. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
Background
Hard rock or heavy rock is a heavier subgenre of rock music typified by vocals and electric guitars that are aggressive and distorted relative to traditional rock music. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic, and blues rock movements. Some of the earliest hard rock music was produced by the Kinks, the Who, the Yardbirds, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In the late 1960s, bands such as Blue Cheer, the Jeff Beck Group, Iron Butterfly, Led Zeppelin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Golden Earring, Steppenwolf, Grand Funk Railroad, Free, and Deep Purple also produced hard rock.
