Hoodoo Gurus

Hoodoo Gurus is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Flamin' Groovies, Jet, My Girl, The Fleshtones and The Hitmen. Those roots explain a lot about how Hoodoo Gurus arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Hunters & Collectors, Australian Crawl, Cold Chisel, Noiseworks and Powderfinger, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Spiderbait, Midnight Oil, You Am I, Joe Strummer and The Hellacopters, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 33 connections around Hoodoo Gurus, reaching back through Flamin' Groovies and forward to Spiderbait. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
