Ima Robot is a Indie rock act. Their sound grew out of Hot Hot Heat, Oleander and Ramones. Those roots explain a lot about how Ima Robot arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Hot Hot Heat, Phantom Planet, The Von Bondies, Louis XIV and OK Go, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and Junior Senior, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 36 connections around Ima Robot, reaching back through Hot Hot Heat and forward to Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros.
