Say Anything is a Emo and Indie rock act. Their sound grew out of Moneen, that dog., Thrice, Hot Rod Circuit and Equal Vision Records. Those roots explain a lot about how Say Anything arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as The Academy Is..., Cute Is What We Aim For, Cursive, Bayside and The Early November, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Paramore, The Dear Hunter, Motion City Soundtrack, Circa Survive and Emanuel, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 47 connections around Say Anything, reaching back through Moneen and forward to Paramore. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
