John Craigie

John Craigie is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie. Those roots explain a lot about how John Craigie arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Josh Ritter, Gregory Alan Isakov, Nathaniel Rateliff, The Wood Brothers and The Milk Carton Kids, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Jack Johnson, Gregory Alan Isakov, James McMurtry, Shawn Colvin and Trampled by Turtles, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 26 connections around John Craigie, reaching back through Ramblin' Jack Elliott and forward to Jack Johnson.
