Blues

Junior Kimbrough is a Blues act. Their sound grew out of Mississippi Fred McDowell, Ali Farka Touré, John Lee Hooker, Lowell Fulson and Jason Ricci. They run in the same orbit as Mississippi Fred McDowell, Skip James, John Lee Hooker, Bukka White and Son House, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Thickfreakness, Mark Lanegan, Buddy Guy, Daft Punk and The Black Keys, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation.
