◇ image via WikipediaThe Black Keys
The Black Keys is a Garage rock and Indie rock act. Their sound grew out of Mos Def, Brother Dege, DANGERDOOM, Nico Vega and Royal Headache. Those roots explain a lot about how The Black Keys arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Dan Auerbach, The Arcs, The Blue Stones, The Raconteurs and Band of Skulls, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Welshly Arms, The Sheepdogs, St. Vincent, mxmtoon and Matt Corby, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 59 connections around The Black Keys, reaching back through Mos Def and forward to Welshly Arms.
