Alternative rockDubstepElectropop

Lights is a Alternative rock and Dubstep act. Their catalogue also touches Electropop, Post-rock and Rap. Their sound grew out of Cœur de pirate, Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker, Owl City, Talk Talk and Björk. Those roots explain a lot about how Lights arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as PVRIS, Chvrches, Mothica, Aly & AJ and Ellie Goulding, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Alexz Johnson, Silverstein, Owl City, Hedley and Bring Me the Horizon, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 52 connections around Lights, reaching back through Cœur de pirate and forward to Alexz Johnson. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
