Blues
Blues

Manassas is a Blues act. Their sound grew out of The Byrds, The Rolling Stones, Buffalo Springfield, P. P. Arnold and The Flying Burrito Brothers. Those roots explain a lot about how Manassas arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Crosby, Stills & Nash, Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Neil Young & Crazy Horse and The Stills-Young Band, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Richie Furay, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Neil Young and Jefferson Airplane, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 33 connections around Manassas, reaching back through The Byrds and forward to Richie Furay. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
