McFly is a Alternative rock and Punk rock act. Their catalogue also touches Rap. Their sound grew out of The Hoosiers, Fresno, Ximena Sariñana, Busted and The Beatles. Those roots explain a lot about how McFly arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Jonas Brothers, Scouting for Girls, The Feeling, The Vamps and The Saturdays, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Click Five, Aly & AJ, 5 Seconds of Summer, David Archuleta and R5, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 45 connections around McFly, reaching back through The Hoosiers and forward to The Click Five.
