George Ezra is a Blues and Folk act. Their catalogue also touches Rock. Their sound grew out of Jacob Anderson, Athlete, Raleigh Ritchie, The Big Moon and Bob Dylan. Those roots explain a lot about how George Ezra arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as James Bay, Olly Murs, Mumford & Sons, Phillip Phillips and Myles Smith, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Paradise, Mimi Webb, Fred again.., Lianne La Havas and Bastille, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 40 connections around George Ezra, reaching back through Jacob Anderson and forward to Paradise.
