Noah Kahan

Noah Kahan is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Bella Kay, Paul Simon, Counting Crows, Hozier and Sam Fender. Those roots explain a lot about how Noah Kahan arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Mumford & Sons, Chance Peña, The Lumineers, Gregory Alan Isakov and Phoebe Bridgers, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Quinn XCII, Julia Michaels, Post Malone, Lizzy McAlpine and Kacey Musgraves, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 44 connections around Noah Kahan, reaching back through Bella Kay and forward to Quinn XCII. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.

Background

Noah Berkenkamp Kahan is an American singer-songwriter. His breakthrough single, "Hurt Somebody", achieved gold status in the United States and charted in multiple international markets. The single and EP of the same name preceded the release of his debut album, Busyhead (2019). Within five years, two more albums followed: I Was / I Am (2021) and Stick Season (2022), the second of which went on to be his mainstream commercial breakthrough and led to his nomination in 2023 for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. In 2026, his fourth album The Great Divide was released and achieved record-breaking streaming and vinyl sales for a number-one rock album debut on the Billboard 200. This preceded The Great Divide Tour, his first stadium tour.
