Prince Far I is a Reggae act. Their sound grew out of Ansel Collins, Bim Sherman, Roots Radics, Leroy Wallace and Lloyd Parks. Those roots explain a lot about how Prince Far I arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Ras Michael & The Sons Of Negus, Prince Jammy, U-Roy, Prince Far I & The Arabs and King Tubby, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Clash, Nicodemus, Don Campbell, Mikey Dread and David Toop, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 37 connections around Prince Far I, reaching back through Ansel Collins and forward to The Clash.
