Scientist is a Dancehall and Reggae act. Their sound grew out of Bedhead, Linval Thompson, Henry "Junjo" Lawes, Bunny Lee and Pat Kelly. Those roots explain a lot about how Scientist arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as King Tubby, Prince Jammy, The Aggrovators, Keith Hudson and Lee "Scratch" Perry & The Upsetters, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Nando Boom, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 32 connections around Scientist, reaching back through Bedhead and forward to Nando Boom. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
