Puscifer

Puscifer is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Trent Reznor, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Tom Waits and Skinny Puppy. Those roots explain a lot about how Puscifer arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as A Perfect Circle, Tool, Karnivool, Black Light Burns and Nine Inch Nails, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Trey Gunn, Lustmord, Alessandro Cortini and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 32 connections around Puscifer, reaching back through Trent Reznor and forward to Trey Gunn. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.

Background

Puscifer is an American rock group formed in Los Angeles by Maynard James Keenan, lead singer of Tool and A Perfect Circle. Initially Keenan was the only permanent member and he considered the project to be his "creative subconscious". Later, frequent collaborators Mat Mitchell and Carina Round became permanent members.
