Rhapsody is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Orden Ogan, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica and Kamelot. Those roots explain a lot about how Rhapsody arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Stratovarius, Twilight Force, Sonata Arctica, Fairyland and Blind Guardian, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Nanowar of Steel, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 27 connections around Rhapsody, reaching back through Orden Ogan and forward to Nanowar of Steel. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
Background
Rhapsody of Fire is an Italian symphonic power metal band formed in Trieste by guitarist Luca Turilli and keyboardist Alex Staropoli. The band is widely considered a pioneer of the symphonic power metal subgenre. Originally formed in 1993 as Thundercross, the band released albums under the moniker Rhapsody before changing their name to Rhapsody of Fire in 2006 due to trademark issues. The band is known for their fantasy concept albums for both the Emerald Sword Saga and the Dark Secret Saga.
