Stratovarius is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Noise Records, Jani Liimatainen, Ritchie Blackmore, Rainbow and Kraftwerk. Those roots explain a lot about how Stratovarius arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Sonata Arctica, Edguy, Helloween, Rhapsody and Avantasia, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into DragonForce, Rhapsody, Angra, Sonata Arctica and Galneryus, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 38 connections around Stratovarius, reaching back through Noise Records and forward to DragonForce. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
