◇ image via WikipediaSkyy
Skyy is a Funk act. Their sound grew out of Glen Adams, Linda Jones and Brass Construction. Those roots explain a lot about how Skyy arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Aurra, Change, Shalamar, Fatback Band and The Whispers, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Short Dog's in the House, Joe Bataan, Instant Funk, Double Exposure and Carol Williams, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 36 connections around Skyy, reaching back through Glen Adams and forward to Short Dog's in the House.
