They run in the same orbit as Gwen Guthrie, Thelma Houston, Inner Life, Skyy and Silver Convention, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Ini Kamoze, Peabo Bryson, Kool & The Gang, De La Soul and Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 43 connections around Taana Gardner, reaching back through Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band and forward to Ini Kamoze.
