Tankard
Tankard is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Destruction, Kreator, Sodom, Noise Records and Morgoth. Those roots explain a lot about how Tankard arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Destruction, Sodom, Kreator, Sacred Reich and Overkill, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Kreator, Destruction, Sodom and Combat Records, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 27 connections around Tankard, reaching back through Destruction and forward to Kreator. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
Background
Tankard is a German thrash metal band from Frankfurt, founded in 1982. Alongside Kreator, Destruction and Sodom, Tankard is often considered one of the "Big Four" of Teutonic thrash metal. Stylistically, Tankard has consistently played thrash metal that thematically centres primarily on alcohol reverence, unlike the remaining "Big Teutonic Four", who are all known for covering such topics related to death, politics, violence and anti-fascism.
