Overkill is a Heavy metal act. Their sound grew out of Death Angel, Kat, Flotsam and Jetsam, King Diamond and Phil Taylor. Those roots explain a lot about how Overkill arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Exodus, Death Angel, Testament, Nuclear Assault and Destruction, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Havok, Pantera, Nuclear Assault, Anvil and Testament, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 66 connections around Overkill, reaching back through Death Angel and forward to Havok. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
