The Raveonettes is a Indie rock act. Their sound grew out of The Warlocks, stellastarr*, Ronnie Spector, The Everly Brothers and The Velvet Underground. Those roots explain a lot about how The Raveonettes arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as The Kills, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Crocodiles, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and The Joy Formidable, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Dum Dum Girls, No Joy and The Boxer Rebellion, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 40 connections around The Raveonettes, reaching back through The Warlocks and forward to Dum Dum Girls.
