◇ image via WikipediaThe Doors
The Doors is a Psychedelic rock act. Their sound grew out of Back Door Man, The Music Machine, Canned Heat, Audience and The Cult. Those roots explain a lot about how The Doors arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Big Brother & The Holding Company, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Ananda Shankar, Black Flag, Cheap Trick, Alice in Chains and Dead Sara, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 140 connections around The Doors, reaching back through Back Door Man and forward to Ananda Shankar. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
