The Sleeping is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Bayside, Oceana and Weerd Science. Those roots explain a lot about how The Sleeping arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Bayside, The Receiving End of Sirens, Matchbook Romance, The Almost and Reggie and the Full Effect, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Saosin, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 20 connections around The Sleeping, reaching back through Bayside and forward to Saosin.
