Bayside is a Emo and Hardcore punk act. Their catalogue also touches Punk rock. Their sound grew out of Smoking Popes, Moments In Grace, New Found Glory, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Victory Records. Those roots explain a lot about how Bayside arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Alkaline Trio, The Early November, Say Anything, The Menzingers and Matchbook Romance, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Sleeping, Daylight, Paramore, Silverstein and All We Know Is Falling, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 45 connections around Bayside, reaching back through Smoking Popes and forward to The Sleeping.
