◇ image via WikipediaUtopia
Utopia is a Bollywood act. Their sound grew out of The Move, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. Those roots explain a lot about how Utopia arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Klaatu, The Moody Blues, Genesis and Steve Hackett, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Scandal, Stacey Q, Kairon; IRSE!, Steve Hillage and The Cars, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 28 connections around Utopia, reaching back through The Move and forward to Scandal. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
