Willie Dixon is a Blues and Rhythm and blues act. Their sound grew out of Eddie Boyd, Robert Nighthawk, Johnny Shines, Fred Below and Willie Mabon. Those roots explain a lot about how Willie Dixon arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Elmore James, Slim Harpo, Albert King, John Lee Hooker and Koko Taylor, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Lucky Peterson, Alive, She Cried, Nobody but You, From the Cradle and The Strypes, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 89 connections around Willie Dixon, reaching back through Eddie Boyd and forward to Lucky Peterson. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
